Electric vehicle user fee considered | With gas taxes shrinking, the state needs a new source of funding for roads: "“Gasoline taxes have been, traditionally, a very good stand-in for how many miles you drive,” said Rep. Vicki Berger, a Salem Republican. “That dynamic is changing.”

House Bill 2453, which received its first public hearing on Monday, would apply a per-mile fee to vehicles that get 55 miles per gallon or better efficiency that are produced in 2015 or thereafter."
